On this day, Louis XV returns to Versailles from Choisy, where he left a person dear to him. Writing on 10 August, our diarist says:
“The King came back from Choisy the day before yesterday in the evening. Mme de Vintimille, 8 months pregnant, stayed there ill with a sustained fever…The King is much preoccupied with her condition and speaks of it often.”
